The girls are now 6 weeks old. Yes, 6 weeks! I can hardly believe it. They are growing more and more everyday, already growing out of some of their clothes! Most specifically their footie pajamas... those girls have some long legs! I weighed them yesterday and their stats were:
Luciana: 8lbs 7oz
Milena: 7lbs 15oz
Holy cow! these girls are now the size of regular babies :) Haha. I'm very excited. It's so funny... a few weeks ago, I could really tell how they've grown. But looking at them now, they almost seem the same to me. I know they are bigger - like I said, I can tell by their clothes. But when I see their weight on the scale - wow! As excied as I am, it's a little sad. I mean, they have such cute clothes! Of course as I pull out some bigger clothes for them to wear, they have even more cute clothes! I honestly don't know how people just give away their babies' clothes though. I have gotten so many hand-me-downs from wonderful friends... but I feel like it'll be so hard for me to part with mine!
I think part of it may be that we don't know if we will have any more children. Most likely, no. But what if we do? And what if we have another girl? How can I get rid of all their clothes?! I may just pack them away for the time being... maybe store them at my parent's house so Bruno doesn't get mad at me. Haha.
So as we move through Week 6, I'm trying to work on getting their girls to sleep in their cribs. I know that when they go to daycare they will nap in cribs, not their bouncy seats. So I need to make sure that they can do that. I started this last week, with minimal success. I mean, we've had baby steps of success.

Initially, I put the girls in the same crib, and they would sleep for about 1-2 hrs. But definitely not every naptime, or everyday. After they woke up, I would let them spend the rest of their nap in their bouncy seats to make sure they got some rest. Later in the week, I had changed Milena and placed her in her crib for the time being while I changed Luciana. I turn around after I'm done, and Milena is passed out in the crib. Awesome. So I put Luciana in with her and leave the room. Yeah, doesn't work so much for Luciana. She doesn't stop crying and Milena remains passed out. (Note that the picture above does show Luciana passed out and Milena awake... that was a fluke) Not wanting her cries to wake her sister, I take her out, soothe her, and put her in her seat.
After a few attempts at this, I decide that maybe Luciana doesn't like sharing a crib. So I put her in her own crib and wouldn't you know, she sleeps! But who doesn't? Her sister! I do the same routine for a few more naptimes, same thing. So apparently Luciana likes to sleep alone and Milena likes to sleep with her sister. Now how is this going to work??
For today's nap, I took the advice of my mother-in-law and my husband. For Milena, I put her in her sleep sack, so as she feels a little more cuddled and not flailing all about. What else did I do? I put the Luciana doll in her crib, in the corner. So now she is snoozing "with" Luciana. (that was husband's advice) So far, it seems to be working. We've had some cries and a little consoling, but definitely more progress than before. Fingers crossed this works so eventually they will spend all of naptime in their cribs and bedtime as well!
Oh, and what's that word of advice? If possible, start your babies sleeping in their cribs from the beginning. I mean, they were sleeping in a "crib" at the hospital. Best to just carry it on when you get home. To each his own, but I think this is what we would do if we had to start over.
