A few weeks ago my BFF Karen sent out an email, asking a few of us if we were interested in heading down to Charlottesville for the weekend to celebrate her birthday. So I checked my calendar and wouldn't you know, I was free! I immediately put the trip on the calendar and then talked to Bruno about it.
"So, Karen is going to Charlottesville for her birthday, to go to some wineries and a concert."
"Cool."
"She asked me, Chels and Lottie to join her..."
"Great! You'll have fun!"
He looks at the calendar. "Oh, you already put it in!"
"Yeah... but maybe I shouldn't go. That is the Friday of the girls' first week of daycare. Maybe I should just go down on Saturday instead of Friday..."
"Molly, you need to go. Go have fun with your friends. The girls will be fine."
"I know, but I'll miss them!"
"You'll be ok."
So I decided he was right and I needed a girls weekend. So I got super excited and we started planning.
Since I always have 1/2 day Fridays, I told the girls that I could leave whenever. Both Karen and Chelsea were getting off of work early, so we were able to leave early afternoon. Of course I took a detour to Sterling to say hello to my little ones. This was the first time I had seen them at daycare, and it was quite a thrill. I wasn't used to seeing them in the middle of the day, so I was overjoyed. I came into the room and asked if they were awake.
"One of them is."
So I look over and Milena has her eyes open, just looking around.
"Hi Milena!"
She looks around a little bit, pauses, then gives me the biggest smile. She knows me! Oh I was so excited to see that smile. I look over at Luciana and she's crying a little bit.
"Hi Luciana!"
She pauses, looks around, spots me, and smiles so big. Again, I am overflowing with excitement!
I hold both of them for a bit before heading out of town. It was so nice to actually see them at daycare and how great their "teachers" are. They take great care of them and I'm really happy they're there.
I then headed over to Karen's where her and Chelsea were waiting we loaded up the car and away we went. We didn't have much of an agenda for the trip, especially on Friday. We only needed to be at the concert venue by 9pm. No problem. So on the way down we decided to stop by Prince Michel Winery. I'd always passed it going down to visit my brother, but never had the chance to go in. So why not now? We pulled over and had our first tasting of the weekend.
The wine was good, but nothing to write home about. Both Karen and Chelsea work at a local winery, so their tasting fee was waived. Our hostess then says she wouldn't feel right not charging them, but charging me. So mine was on the house as well. Awesome! Back into the car we went.
In a nutshell, the weekend was fun. It was really nice to spend time with the girls, just like old times. I missed my little ones, of course, but to be honest, it was SO nice to sleep in! Haha. I don't even know the last time I slept 10 hours straight without any baby noises. I would definitely be up for another girls weekend.
