Month 4

How is it all of the sudden, our girls are 4 months old?? They are like real babies now… haha. This month has really been fun, as the girls are staying up longer, interacting more, and hitting milestones. They are really starting to figure out whom each other is, and it’s so fun. Luciana seems more excited to see her sister… she smiles so big as she stares at her. Milena is more like, “Eh, whatever.” But we really think that she will come around and the girls will be conversing like crazy with each other. I mean, Milena already talks like crazy to her mobile friends that spin above her crib… why not speak with someone who can respond?

The girls continue to do well at daycare. They have been getting loads of tummy time and their teachers say they are the only babies that actually seem to enjoy it! They were able to show off their skills for their 4 month appointment. Nurse Karen was VERY impressed!

This month we celebrated the girls’ first St Patrick’s Day. We spent some time hanging out with Avo before heading to a party with our friends. There was a wardrobe change between venues, of course. The girls were VERY well behaved and just had so much fun talking and laughing with everyone, especially their Godmothers Karen and Allyson. The girls also had their first Easter Egg hunt… well, sort of. We took a little longer than expected to get out of the house, per usual. So by the time we arrived at Daycare, the infants had already gone. Oh well. Next year will be more fun anyway. We still enjoyed seeing all their teachers and well, just showing them off :)

Bruno and I have really taken to carrying the girls around in their Bjorns rather than in the stroller. It allows us to interact with them more, and the girls get a great view of their surroundings. We love it! Plus, it’s a great workout. I did purchase a gently used Twins Weego… and have attempted to use it once. I think it will come in handy on various occasions when I am alone, but I think the total weight would be too much to use on a regular basis. But it’s fun!

The girls also took their first school pictures this month. I’m hoping they turn out well because I didn’t get a chance to do a dress rehearsal beforehand, so I don’t even know if the outfits we put them in fit! But I know our little ones will look adorable no matter what… I can wait to see the outcome!

Luciana Marie

You have become quite the attention getter. You love to smile and will smile for anyone and everyone. It doesn’t take much to see it, and hear your laugh, so you are definitely a crowd pleaser.

When you are REALLY ready to eat and we have you on your boppy, you take no time to dig your feet into the floor, arch your back and scream. You practically hoist yourself up over the boppy and will not calm down until a bottle is in your mouth. Yikes!.

In the middle of the month we bought an exersaucer and decided to see if you liked it – and boy do you! You’re still a little small, so we wrap a blanket around you to hold you in. But you definitely enjoy looking at all the fun things. Soon enough, you will be grabbing on to all of them and having a ball.

You enjoy your mobile, but get bored with it very quickly. Either you pass out, and we let you nap or you cry until we take you out. Sometimes it seems you’d much rather be sitting in your Bumbo than laying in your crib. Probably because then you can watch TV.

Recently, you have liked sleeping with the blanket pulled up over your face. Who knows why, but you do it pretty often. We try to only give you the knitted blankets now to make sure you can always breathe!

You and your sister have a pretty good schedule going on now. You’ll eat 7oz at 6:30am, 12:30pm, 5:30pm and 10:30pm. Then you sleep until 6-6:30 the next morning. Mommy and Daddy like this schedule. Eventually, you both will go to bed earlier… but for now, and average of 7hrs/night is great!

You are still being swaddled at nighttime to sleep. We had to buy a larger swaddle sack for you because you were just too smooshed into the NB size. You seem to break out of your swaddle every night, so maybe we will unswaddle you soon! Your Daddy and I are nervous to do so because we’ve grown fond of this “sleeping thru the night” thing.

You are starting to love giving hugs.  It's so cute!  I think you got that from your dad!

You are well into 3m/3-6m clothing now. We are starting the transition into 6m clothing – you are growing so fast!

You also have grown fond of sucking on your fingers. Daddy thinks it’s because you’re ready to start eating solid foods… I think he’s probably right. Looks like we may introduce you to rice cereal next month!

At your 4 month check-up you weighed 12lbs 12oz and were 23” long. You’ve grown so much, but are still small for your age.

Milena Mattioli

You are certainly a curious one, and still our little Diva. When you are out and about, you are constantly looking around, seeing what’s going on. You can be very particular at times on how you’re held – you mostly like to be held up on our shoulder, sitting tall and looking around. Occasionally you’ll sit on our laps and relax… but not often!

You LOVE your mobile still. We can place you in your crib and turn it on, and you’ll be entertained for at least 20 minutes. In baby time, that’s a long time!

When not in your crib, we’ll keep you on your play mat, staring at your friends, or at yourself in the mirror. Sometimes you’ll be content in the swing, just looking around and eventually passing out. But when you are done with any activity, you let us know.

You have become more chatty these days, mostly with your mobile friends. But you are also smiling at us a lot more, and laughing more.

You also rolled over for the first time this month! On March 24th… and Daddy captured your 2nd roll on camera. We were very excited. We haven’t seen you do it since… but who knows what goes on at daycare!

You haven’t shown many signs of wanting to be unswaddled, but we know we’ll have to do it eventually!

We are trying to keep you and your sister in the same size clothes, but you could stay in 3m clothing longer than her. We’re working on transitioning to the next size, but keeping some smaller things around so you aren’t swimming in all your outfits.

You still love to suck on your fist and hands – you are doing it a lot these days. Maybe you need solid foods as well!  You have started this new thing when you eat and relax... putting your arm behind your head.  It's so cute.

At your 4 month check-up you weighed 11lbs 10oz and were 23.5” long. You’ve grown so much, but are still small for your age. We can definitely tell a difference size-wise between you and your sister!

Month 5 - what?? - we look forward to their first Easter and their first wedding!
