MOM posting for MOMs

Hey there!  I'm a follower of Megan's blog and when I saw that all of us MOMs are linking up together, I couldn’t wait to post!  I’ve actually been reading through everyone’s introductory posts (and some others), so I hope you’ll do the same.  So a little about me…

I grew up in the Northern Virginia area (not to be confused with the rest of Virginia – there is a difference J)  After graduating from Virginia Tech (Go Hokies!) I thought I’d get out of Virginia and make my way to North Carolina.  But when a friend asked me to be here roommate back up here, my plans for moving away were left in the dust.  In the end, it worked out, because I met my husband!  Bruno (husband) and I met back in 2006, dated for a bit, and got married in May of 2009.  We spent the next 2 years enjoying married life, travelling a bit, before deciding it was time to hop on the baby train.

We were beyond thrilled when the test showed up positive after just one month of trying.  When we went into to our 1st doctor’s appointment to confirm the pregnancy, we were given the shock of our lives when 2 “bubbles” showed up on the screen.  Our doctor casually stated, “So you’re having twins.”

“I’m sorry, what?!  Did you say twins??”

There is no history of any twins in either of our families.  We did not do any sort of fertility treatment… this was just pure luck that we were blessed with 2 little babies.  Apparently it’s a 1 in 89 chance to have spontaneous twins – who knew?!  Not us, that’s for sure.

This past Sunday (May 6), marked exactly 1 year since that doctor’s appointment, and we couldn’t be any happier.  Every day we are so much more excited about and in love with our little girls, Luciana and Milena.  You never know what you’re missing until you have it… and we couldn’t imagine our lives without our twins.  It was truly meant to be J
