BuyBuyBaby

Last week Bruno and I took the coveted trip to Buybuybaby to get some stuff covered on our registry. I had been building the registry online, but there were a few things we knew just couldn’t be taken care of without seeing them in person. What things? Well, strollers, car seats, pack and go… things that we also had NO idea about. Sure, we’ve gotten a lot of great advice and suggestions from our friends on things we need for the babies, and a lot of those have ended up on our registries. But these other items were of a different nature.

We went to Buybuybaby because I’ve had so many friends tell me how great the employees are, how they actually know what they’re talking about. They are trained and knowledgeable, and that’s exactly what we needed. We came into the store, to the registry, and let the woman behind the counter know what we had come in for.

“Would you like someone to walk around with you?”

“Um, sure.”

So here came Kimi, our personal shopper in a sense. We let her know we were looking for strollers, car seats, etc. and we headed over to that department. As I mentioned in a previous post, a couple we met were very gracious in donating their double snap and go to us, so we let Kimi know we had that in our possession. She knew which car seats to show us, based on having that stroller. Great! As she walked us around, explaining the pros and cons for each, she really knew her stuff. Of the 4 brands she showed us, we did end up going for the most expensive one… but that wasn’t because of her. A lot of sales people do push the most expensive brand, but she didn’t. We just opted for the extra safety and whether that extra safety is REALLY necessary, it made us feel better. As we were pondering the choice, Kimi did say, “Every car seat here meets all current sfety standards, or else we wouldn’t sell them. These ones just have extra ones, so it just depends on what you want to pay for.” Being 1st time parents, we opted for the safest. Yeah, we’re those people. Haha.

We moved on to strollers, which we already were limited in choices. Since we need a double stroller, our options were either side by side, or front to back. We didn’t want side by side because those seem like such a hassle to get through doorways and aisles. So front to back it was. Kimi showed us the floor model of one that was so cool… it has stadium seating and the seats can recline and can be moved. What I mean by moved is that they can come out of the frame to be flipped around so the girls can face each other, or face us. Again, the stroller was on the pricey side… but we know with twins, things are going to be pricier for us. This stroller however, is sold as a single, and the extra seat is an addition. So why someone would opt for this stroller, for one baby, I have no idea. I don’t see the benefit for just one baby. But I guess that’s just me.

We managed to register for some bouncers and a pack and play (orange!) before having to head out. Bottom line – Buybuybaby is awesome! If you are registering, go there. Especially for the stuff you really need advice on. Of course we have registered at 2 other places, since there’s only 1 Buybuybaby in the area, but our big ticket items, they’re there.
