Well, actually, I could have found out 2 weeks prior. Yeah... See, the doctor I've seen 2x gave me a paper to schedule an appointment with a radiology office. He didn't explain why, he just said schedule an appointment in 3-4 weeks, even though they would think it was too early. But that's all he said. No problem.
A month later, I saw another doctor for my monthly check-up (I'm supposed to see all of them) and he gave me paperwork to schedule the big 20-week gender exam with a different radiology office. This one was obvious that we would find out the genders, so I went and scheduled it right away. Then I scheduled other appointment, for 2 weeks prior. Since the other doctor had asked me to make it to check on things, I figured I should do that one first.
Bruno had asked if he should come to this appointment, and I told him, "No, no. Don't worry about it. It's not a big deal. I don't want you missing work anymore." So grudgingly, he agreed. On my way to the first appointment, I had a moment of panic and worry, that the appointment I was going to WAS actually the gender appointment. I thought for a moment, that I should call Bruno and ask him to come out. But I thought that’d be silly, and I was about at the appointment anyhow. He’d never make it in time. I would just make sure they didn’t tell me the gender, if this was in fact the gender appointment.
Once I was in the exam room, I asked the technician if this was the gender appointment.
“It can be,” she said.
“Oh, no no. I don’t want to know. My husband’s not here.”
I explained to her the situation, about my 2 appointments. And she basically told me this appointment was probably the same thing I would do in 2 weeks, but it didn’t hurt to have it done again. I mean I was already there, I wouldn’t find out the genders, so there was nowhere for me to go.
The appointment ended up being pretty cool, seeing the babies, as babies for the first time. They definitely looked A LOT different than the first ultrasound, 10 weeks before. They looked like babies instead of little beans. They were moving around a lot, posing well for pictures, and measuring exactly the same, as they always had. The technician gave me a ton of pictures to bring home, which worked out since Bruno had a show that night, so we could show people. Of course none of the pictures revealed anything, despite what some people thought they saw in the pictures… “That’s the leg!”
So as I was saying, the actual gender appointment was a week ago. Bruno and I went into the appointment thinking we were having 2 boys. It was just a feeling. We had taken a poll of our Facebook/Twitter/Google + friends, and the majority was thinking 1 boy/ 1 girl. Well we were about to find out. When we got to the exam room, we asked the technician if she could find out the genders of both before going into all the measurement details (since I had just done this, I knew the measurements took a while and we couldn’t wait that long to find out.)
“Well, I’ll try.”
She goes to Baby A, and wouldn’t you know, she was spread eagle. Just putting everything out there for all to see.
“Well, it’s a girl.”

“A girl?!” we exclaimed. We were very excited and surprised, only because we thought we were having 2 boys. So after that news, I thought we would be having 1 boy, 1 girl. Bruno immediately thought 2 girls. Although we both had a feeling they would be boys, he always figured they would at the very least be of the same gender, mostly because they had always measured the same and had heartbeats in the same range. So the technician moves over to Baby B and announces, “It’s another girl!”

“2 girls?!”
Although Baby B wasn’t as exposed as her sister, she managed to be in a good position to let as figure out what she was. So 2 girls… 2 little girls were coming into our lives in December. I think it’s definitely setting in more. People had always asked us what we wanted, and we honestly didn’t have a preference. We thought it’d be cool to have 1 of each, but then it’d also be cool for them to be the same (to share clothes, be bff’s). Now that we know they’re girls, we’re so very excited for them. We were meant to have to girls and it seems like there really are more cute girl clothes than boy clothes – haha.
What’s even funnier is that 3 members of Bruno’s band have recently welcomed new babies into their families… all girls. So there MUST be something in the water when you hang around Crowded Streets!
