At the end of September (I know I know, I’m SO behind!) Bruno and I hosted our own Coed Baby Shower. Sure, parents-to-be aren’t necessarily supposed to host their own shower, but we wanted to. When my awesome friends originally told me they wanted to throw me a shower, I was elated. I talked to Bruno about it and we decided we wanted a Coed Shower. So I started the invite list………. Yeah. After mixing ALL our friends and loved ones, the list was over 70 people! At first glance I thought, “No big deal. It’ll be fun.” But upon further thinking, I became more along the lines of “Holy crap, that’s a lot of people! This shower will last all day!” I told Bruno that we wouldn’t be able to have a Coed shower because it just wasn’t feasible.
“Well why not?”
“Bruno, the list is over 70 people.”
“Ok…”
“At baby showers, you open all the gifts there. It will take all day!”
“Why do we have to open all the gifts?”
“Because it’s what you do.”
So much to his dismay, we canned the Coed Shower idea and decided to have a girls’ shower for me. But I knew he wanted to be included – he’s always wanted to be since day 1 and has been an awesome dad-to-be (how many times have I mentioned that now?) Plus, these are OUR little girls, not just mine. We should celebrate together. So we decided to throw our own shower, inviting friends and loved ones that we didn’t include on the girls only shower.
After researching and contacting various places around the area, we decided to hold the event at a local winery. A friend of ours’ family owns it, so they helped us out with booking the place. Plus, I had been to this winery a few times and knew the wine was pretty awesome. So we planned the event, bought the decorations (green and pink with rocker flair) and fed our guests sandwiches from Wegmans and Pie from Hill High Country Store (YUM!)
The shower was a great success and we had such an awesome time with everyone who came. It was so nice to share our excitement and joy with our friends and family and we truly appreciated everyone for coming out. We really do have awesome friends and family. I’ll leave the rest of the blog to some pictures from the day.
*A special shout-out to Bryant, Carrie and Steve for ALL their help during the shower. We couldn’t have pulled it off as well without you guys!*
