7 Months and Counting...
I'll tell you what, I think the girls' 7th month was their busiest one yet! Between races and playdates and traveling, the entire family has been going non-stop! But we know if only increase from here, especially as the girls get more mobile and interactive.
The beginning of the month, the girls and I joined Grandma and Aunt Arlene in a 5k walk to support Race for the Cure. Grandma's teacher friends all rallied up, designed t-shirts and headed into the district. It was the girls' first time on the metro and, due to track work, the metro bus. They were champs on the traveling, even through Milena's vomiting on the bus (she had a small stomach bug that weekend) The 5k walk went really well, and the weather was perfect for the event! Aside from a few poop explosions from both girls, the day went really smooth.
This month we also introduced the girls to a lot of new foods! We tried pears, squash, avocado, bananas, apples, sweet potatoes and even chicken! The girls are really great about eating their foods and it seems as though the only food they haven't taken to is peaches. At first, I thought it was my cooking and the peaches being just a bit too tart, but they wouldn't eat the Gerber food either (yes, we had to buy pre-made food for our traveling - boo!) Too bad, because I think peaches are quite yummy, but if this is all they've not liked, I'll take it!
Though technically this started last month... the girls have been enjoying bath time TOGETHER! I bought some consigned bath seats that attach to the tub and let the girls go. I think they really love being in the tub together and honestly it makes it a lot easier on us! Bath time doesn't take as long, and it's fun seeing them play together. Initially, of course, they were both sort of confused about the whole ordeal. But now, they've gotten the hang of it. Milena likes to pull her leg up against the seat and lounge back while Luciana tries her best to lean INTO the water and splash around. So fun!
The girls also enjoyed their first play date! I know I've mentioned some friends in this blog before, whom all our girls are around the same age - Maddie is 6 weeks younger and Lilah is 6 weeks older. It was so great to get together, now that the girls are somewhat interacting and have them play with their friends. I think once they are more mobile (crawling/walking) we WILL have to keep them contained in a playpen! We really hope to continue the playdates while we can... maybe our house will be next?
Finally, we took our first trip as a family - all the way to Raleigh, NC for a friends' wedding. It was a learning experience for sure, but the girls did great! They only got whiney towards the end, when they were straight up tried and bored of being in the car. Since a 5 hr car trip took almost 9 hours, I was pretty whiney myself! We've learned that we don't have to stay on their regular eating schedule... it's just easier to stop when they're hungry - or if we're hungry. I know I know, why stop and make them eat if they're perfectly content. But give us a break, this was our first time! We will be much better on the next trip. The girls slept and napped very well in the hotel-provided cribs. I think we managed to bring all the things we needed to keep them entertained and happy, so kudos to the parents as well. They were stellar wedding guests, getting plenty of time with their honorary Grandmas (Margot and Debbie) and lots of dancing with Daddy and Tio Steve. Fun fun fun!

Big thing this month? You learned to sit up! We've been working with you the past few weeks and it was actually during your playdate with your friends that you sat up really well on your own. You've grown so strong and have great posture while you sit.
You've also been holding your bottle all by yourself a lot more now. Most of the time, we can just position your hands correctly and you've been able to finish the bottle without our help.
Speaking of which, you definitely know when your bottle is coming. Once it's in your sight, you reach for it immediately and try your best to start eating. You get so excited!
If you're sitting in your high chair and ready to eat, or begging us to feed you faster, you smack your hand on table as if saying, "Feed me Woman!" Daddy likes to call it your "hulk smash."
Both you and your sister have become quite fascinated with you feet and love to grab your feet and hold up your legs. When we're changing you, it's really helpful :)
This month you experienced your first round of pink eye. Luckily it came and went pretty quickly and without being contagious, but it was sad to see you sick :(
But you bounced back quickly, filled with huge smiles for everyone. Your smile is contagious and you love doing it... it's the best!
You love to laugh - especially when Daddy gives you zerberts and does his Michael Jackson impression. Sometimes if we just make "really loud noises!" you crack up as well.
You're growing really well. At your delayed 6 month appointment you weighed 15lbs 12oz and you were 25.75" long. You are in size 3 diapers and just moved up to 9m clothes!

You are our little chatterbox. You talk on the way to daycare. You talk at daycare. You talk on the way home. And what's your favorite word to say? "Mama" of course! We know that you don't "know" what you're saying, but I still love hearing it.
When you're super excited, you make high pitches squealing noises... Daddy calls them your pterodactyl noises. We love to see you so happy.
This month also brought you a round of sickies! You got slapped with a stomach virus (yuck!) and a small ear infection. But the ear infection did bring you some yummy bubble gum medicine! Ok, well it's amoxicillin, but Mommy still remembers how yummy that "medicine" was!
You've been doing what Daddy terms as your "Thing Hand" for a few week now. Whether it's on a table or on our arm, you lightly "rake" your fingers along whatever surface you can. It's cute. I don't even think you realize that you're doing it.
You are a still very observant. You refuse to go to sleep when we're out, even when we know you're tired! Nothing gets by you...
You've been laughing more lately. Things that make you laugh are the "mau-pei" game Daddy plays with you and when you are tickled under your arms.
You're also growing well! At your delayed 6 month appointment you weighed 14lbs 6oz and were 25.5" long. You are in size 2 diapers and we moved you up to 9m clothes (though you could probably still fit in 6m clothes!)
Next month we look forward to your first 4th of July, School family picnic and a weekend sleepover with Vovo!
