I saw some girls from high school in line, bother pregnant, who alos happen to be twins. We chatted a bit and at one point one says to me, "I hope yo don't have girls. We fought all the time!" Haha.
So my main goal, and hope, was to find a double snap and go stroller. I knew that the odds of one being there wasn't very high, but I was hoping. I didn't even want to bother with any other double strollers because Bruno and I haven't done any sort of research in that department. My mom and I come through the doors and as I'm heading to the stroller aisle, what do I see? A snap and go double stroller! What else do I see? A woman pushing it... she had just snagged it. Ugh! So I sent my mom to look for preemie clothes while I shopped for odds and ends.
I looked for a diaper geenie, but was only able to get some liners. I also got wedge pillow for sleeping and some outlet covers. I grabbed (2) pairs of high top sneakers, as I was told that shoes are so expensive for babies, and they never really wear them. So the 2 paris cost me $5 total. And I just couldn't resist these high tops anyhow... boys or girls, they will rock them out.
When I met up with my mom, I found that she had done quite a lot of gathering. She had been unable to find any preemie clothes, but gathered as many neutral wintery newborn clothes as she could. Knowing we would probably get a lot of clothes as gifts, I went through the pile and got rid of about half of the clothes. The ones we kept, they were just too cute. I mean, everyone's first baby(ies) has a lot of clothes, right? So we got in line and made it out of there with a good stash, for awesome prices. I will definitely be coming back in the spring.
Today, we spent the afternoon celebrating the 1st birthday of one of Bruno's long-time friend's son. Though the weather was a little warm if you stood in the sun, it was a really great afternoon. While we were there, Bruno's friend introduced us to their neighbors, who have a pair of twins (boy/girl). First thing they say to us?
"Do you need a double snap and go stroller? Because you can have ours. We've been trying to give it away but we don't have any friends with twins."
"Um, yes!"
Are you kidding me?? How awesome is that! They just flat out gave it to us... we couldn't believe it. We spent some more time talking with them, asking all the questions we could. Before they left the party, they loaded the stroller into the car and oh, threw in a brand new Baby Bjorn! Apparently they had a pair, and never used them. So they kept one for their next kid (due next week) and just gave us the other one. Who are these people and how did we end up so lucky?? We exchanged emails, for future questions, and thanked them again.
And to put icing on the cake (or the Georgetown Cupcake that were featured at the party), on our way out the door, Bruno's friend gave us a new set of Dr Brown's bottles (her son never took to them) and (2) refills for the diaper geenie. Amazing. What a great weekend for the babies!
Dude, you didn't finish the story about the stroller ... you left off the whole part about your new friend(s) giving you one. That's awesome!!
