My Workout

So I'm finally trying to get back in to a "gym schedule." I took off for about, oh, 3 months... and unless I want to gain more weight than I'm supposed to, like way more, then I figured I needed to get back to it. Last week, I tried the elliptical for 30 minutes. Today, I was reading that doing exercises that keep you off your feet are better for you, like the bicycle. So that's what I did. For another 30 minutes. I felt good, even sweat a little bit, and tried not to work too hard. But that's where I'm having a hard time.

In the 30 minutes that I was on the bike, I went over 12 miles, but burned only 189 cal. When I used to go to the gym, I would try to burn 300-400 cal, at the minimum. I know I'm not supposed to over-exert myself, but am I working hard enough? Is 189 cal enough of a workout? My friend told me that even walking everyday helps, and I'm sure that walking burns less calories than the bike. I guess it's something I just need to ask my doctor about because I want to make sure that I'm doing what I'm supposed to. I want to work out enough to make it worth it, but also not too much to hurt myself or my babies. I honestly doubt that my workout today was too much, that's not what I'm worried about.

So, any thoughts? Is any workout enough? I plan on going 2x a week, and I think with the random walking I do otherwise will be a good balance. Ok, maybe I should get to the gym 3-4x a week, but I'm tired! Haha. I want to come home and do nothing.

On a side note, I bought my first pair of maternity jeans yesterday. A majority of my jeans I can still wear, with the help of a hairband and my bella band, but a few, well, I can't even zip them even a little bit. I know eventually I'll have all maternity jeans, but I figured I'd just start with 1. I also bought some new gym shorts, all this at Target btw. I orginally went to Gap, but that store was a bit out of my price range. I find it so hard to spend a lot of money on clothes that I'm not sure I'll ever wear again. I have been fortunate that a friend of mine has lent me some of her maternity clothes to wear in the meantime, and that's super awesome. But that is a downfall of pregnancy - new clothes. Ugh. But it's worth it, it's all worth it :)

  1. for workouts, just don't get your heart rate over 130 or so. honestly, i know how you feel. at the end of the day, you want to just sleep and working out feels silly. i say, just sleep as much as you can.
maternity clothes-just buy them now. they are like the snoogle. you will get to the point when you are def going to need more regardless of how many you already have so just get them now. plus i'm still wearing some of my preggo clothes b/c i can't get into my pre-K(aden) things still!! so splurge a little!
