I meant to write this post last week, obviously. And I didn’t. No reason really, just lazy. I was much happier coming home and laying around and had no motivation to write. But I know how disappointing it is to check your friend’s blog and realize they STILL haven’t updated it. I’m sure it will happen again, so bear with me.
So a week ago was a very exciting week. On Wednesday, we gathered our parents (yep, all 4 of them) and met at the InfantSee4D studio. This is the place where you get to see your baby(ies) in 3D form. We’re not really sure what 4D means, but it all looked 3D to us. So the 6 of us go into the room, and there’s a tall twin bed in the middle of the room, looking directly at a big projection screen. There are various seats around the room, so everyone takes a seat while I climb into the bed. I felt like the Princess and the Pea, how high I was. To be honest, I felt bad for my mom and Bruno’s dad, because they sat right at the end of the bed… where my stinky feet were. Sorry! I have a feeling they won’t choose those seats again.
So we get the ultrasound going and I will say it’s pretty awesome to share the experience with our parents. We’ve obviously see our girls a lot, but all they have ever seen is pictures. Now they see them moving around, kicking each other… The technician moves the “wand” around my belly, pointing out Baby A and Baby B (who are different than what they were at our last appointment, and apparently the names aren’t supposed to change). But he is insistent that Baby A is on my left and Baby B is on my right. Fine, whatever.
When he gets to Baby A, she’s in good position to be put on camera, her sister, not so much. Baby B has her back to us, not wanting anything to do with the camera. So let’s focus on Baby A. He moves the wand around to the right position, pushed a button, and bam, there she is in 3D. So cool! She has one hand grasping her umbilical cord and the rest of her face is covered. He asks me to cough, to move her a little, even goes as far to shake my belly a bit (awkward…) to get her to move and it does help a little. She moves her arm and we get to see her face. Picture Picture Picture. We shoot photos of her for a bit and move on to Baby B. She is still facing away from us, head up towards my ribs. We do some move moving around and are finally able to get a slight profile view of her. And wouldn’t you know, the little gymnast was in a complete pike position! Her body was bent in half and her legs were straight up in front of her face. She was even holding her legs up with her little hands! Where did that flexibility come from?? Picture Picture Picture.
By the end of the about 20-minute session, we were able to leave with a few pictures of the girls, though not as many as we would have liked. But we’ll be going back at the end of the month and hopefully get some better views of them. Here are the pictures…
We have a fighter (Baby A)
And a diver (Baby B)
I also had my 24 week (6 month!) ultrasound checkup that Friday. It was a little anti-climatic since we had just seen them, but we were happy to see them again I had been worried that I wasn’t gaining enough weight (I hadn’t gained anything in the past week) but the girls are doing great! Baby A (the diver – yes, confusion, but now Baby A is back on my right) weighed in at 1lb, 4 oz and Baby B weighed in at 1lb, 5 oz. I wonder why they weigh different, and how that happens, but they are both where they need to be. They’ve doubled in size in a month with is pretty amazing! My mom insists that they will be big enough that I won’t need preemie clothes for them… I mean, how big are these girls going to get?? Haha. As long as they are growing and healthy, I’m happy.
