Month 11 - So Close!

Well, we've got one month to go.  It's funny how I've been writing these last few blogs and going on about how close we are to the girls turning one year old.  I suppose that's what every mother does... 1 year marks a huge milestone... kind of.   Sometimes I feel that we are all so focused on that "1 year" mark that the months in between may be overlooked.  I know that a lot of times I'm focused on the next milestone... smiling, sitting up, crawling, walking... and I have to step back and look at my girls in wonderment and love - and look at them in this moment, not the next.

Anyhow, on to Month 11!

The girls made another trip into Mommy's work.  Bruno had Columbus Day off, so I asked him to come in and visit the office.  Everyone was really excited to see the girls, especially my boss.  He had missed them the last time they came into the office  few months ago.  They smiled and charmed everyone as usual.

Bruno and spent a weekend down in Blacksburg which meant another weekend sleepover with Vovo!  They had a great time, as always.  They went shopping, went on a few walks and to a party!

But the fun didn't stop there... the following weekend, the girls went to another party!  Their friend Lilah celebrated her first year of life and we spent a wonderful Saturday afternoon at a local park.  The girls enjoyed playing with their friends and cheering on Lilah as she threw her cake to the ground.

Our final excitement for the month was heading out to the pumpkin patch!  We took a trip out near Leesburg to the Pumpkin Patch, meeting up with our friends and their little girls (age 7 and 8m) and another couple, parents-to-be in just a few short days!  The pumpkin patch had a lot to offer - animals, play areas, and just a lot of real estate.  I think the play areas will be more fun for the girls when they are actually big enough to play!  The weather was perfect and we had so much fun, we never even made it to the pumpkins!  Apparently you had to take a hayride to the pumpkins, and we just didn't have the time.  To make up for it, we stopped at a roadside patch to pick up some lil pumpkins and take some pictures.

What a fun month!

You've added a few more skills to your repertoire this month.  The one you love doing the most?  Standing!  You have gained a lot of balance and love to just stand and play hold things.  The things could be a book, a toy, or just a piece of fuzz from the floor.  You haven't shown any signs of actually moving while standing up, but you'll get there.

You've also started to wave - or well, what we are assuming is a wave.  You move your hand up and down really fast, sometimes one hand, sometimes two.  But you do it when we wave to you, so we're taking that motion as a wave.

You and your sister have really been having fun this month.  You love being chased down the hallway and often times sit, turn and laugh at your sister.

We've been working on transitioning you to the sippy cup, and you're making progress.  We typically give you some water during dinner and you are starting to get the hang of it.  It will be so great when we are done with bottles!

At 11 months you weigh 19.5lbs.  You are in 12m pants and 9m-12m tops.  You have 2 bottom teeth and 4 top teeth.

You have also added a few new skills this month.  You have taken to clapping your hands, and in turn, banging toys together.  You often look to us when you clap, to make sure we're paying attention.  We are little one, don't you worry!

I think you've also decided to scream really loud to get our attention as well!  Whether it's in the car or at home, you randomly scream and you know we will see what all the noise is about.  Silly girl.

Although you aren't standing on your own yet, you have been a pro at your walker!  If we place it in front of you, you immediately stand up and push it as far as you can go.  You tend to veer to the right instead of straight, but once we straighten you out, on you go.

Oh and one skill I forgot to mention - you can take off your pants!  Ok, not sure if that's a skill, but it's a surprise.  Look once, they're on.  Look again, they're off.  How do you do that??

At 11 months you weigh 19lbs.  You are in 9m pants and 9m-12m tops.  You have 2 bottom teeth.  You're catching up!

Next month we look forward to your first Halloween, your first Thanksgiving and your first Birthday!  What a month of firsts!!
